How are the Schemes & Activities selected?
If you have never published an entry on the STEM Directories but would like to be considered in the spring/summer 2010 round which is open now, you will need to satisfy some basic, mandatory criteria. These have been set by the Strategic Management Group of the project. Schemes and activities published in the online directories have satisfied the following criteria:
- Scheme or organisation running the scheme confirms that it has an up-to-date Health, Safety and Risk policy. To note: Random spot checks are routinely conducted with providers to police this.
- Scheme has either UK-wide, Regional or Local coverage*.
- Sustainability – scheme must have funding for at least the next 12 months.
- Monitoring and evaluation – If schemes have already undertaken previous monitoring and evaluation, they must indicate this OR if this has not been done before March 2008, they must show monitoring figures for the last 12 months.
*UK-wide – across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland; Regional – covers one of the devolved nations or in England, one or more of the regions defined by the Regional Development Agency; Local – covers one or more Local Education Authorities.
Schemes which do NOT meet one or more of these criteria are not entitled to a full listing on the STEM Directories website but are included as a generic listing on our Links pages.
The objective for the STEM Directories over time is to try to be inclusive in terms of the range of schemes available and to ensure that the schemes which best meet the needs of teachers and students are brought to their attention.
