The first edition of the STEM Directories will be published both in print and as a searchable pdf on this website in September 2008.
How we will select schemes and activities for publication
The STEM Directories project is an entirely new venture in 2008. There has not previously been any comprehensive mapping of all the possible schemes and initiatives for schools and colleges in the UK which might qualify for entry.
The closing date for entries was Monday 16 June 2008.
As this first version is to be in print format, we will ultimately have a pagination limit to the three individual directories (both for budget purposes and for user-friendliness for teachers and lecturers). We do hope however to migrate the directories online as soon as possible in 2009 and this will of course alleviate the print challenges.
Therefore whilst we would very much like to include all national and regional schemes and activities which comply with as many of the selection criteria (PDF, 53KB) as possible, we may need to review the type, quantity and quality of schemes/activities before we finally reach a decision about which ones to include in the 2008 printed directories.
Should this be necessary, we would contact the provider concerned to discuss the matter. We will promote a fair, transparent and open system of selection. If we need to limit the number of schemes or activities listed in the Directories, we will base this decision on a weighted scoring system against the questions listed in the database.
For further information about the scoring system, please contact us.
