Just a few of the engaging activities in Ysgol y Môr, a unique marine-themed activity programme which combines STEM development with practical marine activities in the Menai Strait, North Wales. The three pronged cross-curriculum programme, ‘Classe de Mer’, ‘Schools Marine’ & ‘Watersports Skills Training’, is aimed at students aged 8 - 14 years;. Classe de Mer: Year 6 activity day options: Discovery Day / Wildlife Day / Marine Science Day / Conservation Day / Beach Safety Day Year 7 activity day options: Castles & Pilotage / Marine Ecology / Renewable Energy & the Weather / Healthy Living & the Coast / Sea Survival. Comprehensive teacher and pupil resource packs are provided and you are guided through by the experts in the marine fields. The Schools Marine Challenge: Delves into technologies surrounding solar, wind and water turbine power generation: Hands-on designing, building and testing your own boats and turbines culminating in an interschool Competition at the end of year 8 or 9.
