CSI: Chemical Synthesis and Investigation Presented with a scenario, the students use chemistry, physics, mathematics in their scientific investigation to find the killer! This includes blood detection, blood typing, fingerprint lifting, chromatography, fibre analysis, UV lighting and luminol use.

Course objectives: Expose students to scientific methods and processes used in the ‘real’ world Develop students’ laboratory skills and techniques Encourage students to think about the science they see in poplar media Course format: • One-day activity • Introduction presentation/video of a crime that has occurred! • Group experimentation to eliminate murder suspects from evidence found at the crime scene • Plenary: team presentations to indicate who they think committed the crime • The murderer is exposed! Course content: Presented with a scenario, the students use chemistry, physics, mathematics and microscopes in their scientific investigation to find the killer!
